The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy...

the queen's commonwealth canopy

Launched in 2015, The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy pledged to plant a tree for every person in the UK, within 10 years. This amounts to around 64 million trees! So, you can imagine how excited From the Ashes... was, when they received a pack of 5 Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy trees...

Receiving one Hazel (Corylus Avellana), two Rowan (Sorbus Aucuparia) and two Silver Birch (Betula Pendula) trees, we decided it would be a fabulous idea to involve the next generation in the planting of these trees. So, the children of Dorset House did exactly that. Reception class chose the Hazel tree, Year 1s, the Rowan tree and Year 2s, the Silver Birch and we planted them all in the school grounds so that the children can watch the progress, of their tree as they both flourish through the years...

These trees have a QR code, so that they can be followed and their progress watched in the future. When people come to look at the trees, they can take a photograph of the QR code with an iPhone and it will link in to both this website, Dorset House's website and The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy website.

If you would like to find out any further information about The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy and the planting of the trees at Dorset House School, then you can follow the following link to their email and take a look:
